They Google the job, not your product.
Nobody searches “SuperX”. Thousands of people search “twitter video downloader” every day. Build a small free tool that does that one job, put it on your own site, and Google sends you those people. Then one button walks them into your real product.

SuperX Google clicks per day, from Rob’s Search Console. He started building free tools in May 2026.
This is from Rob Hallam (@robj3d3), who runs SuperX. For a year he couldn’t break 200 clicks a day. Today his top Google queries aren’t his brand at all. They’re his free tools, led by a Twitter video downloader.
Read & leave
Competes with 1,000 other articles. Nobody bookmarks it.
Use & come back
Solves the problem in seconds, gets bookmarked, gets linked to, and it’s one click from your product.
I’ve done this for 2–3 years. Pages like YouTube to PPT, URL to PPT and Excel to PPT on MagicSlides are each one job, one result, one button into the app. That’s how a lot of people find MagicSlides.
Steal your competitor’s homework.
Free route: look at their free tools
Your competitors already list free tools. They only keep them because they bring traffic. That’s keyword research someone else paid for. Rob found the Twitter video downloader on TweetHunter’s tools page.

Let Claude rank the list
Here are the free tools my competitors list: [paste the tool names + URLs] My product: [your URL] does [one line]. Rank them by: 1) how close the user is to needing my product, 2) can I build a WORKING version in a day, 3) search intent (people want a result, not an article). Give me the top 5 with the exact keyword to target.
Paid route: check volume and difficulty
Rob used the Ahrefs API inside Claude Code. You want high intent, decent volume, low difficulty for your site’s strength. A new site can’t win “pdf converter”. It can win “linkedin carousel to pdf”.

Rob’s prompt. Paste it into Claude Code.
# Rob's exact prompt (works with Opus 5.5) Build a free tool for [PRODUCT URL] targeting [KEYWORD]. No signup, instant result, clean mobile UX, one CTA into the product. Nail SEO: title, meta, H1, internal links, FAQ, JSON-LD schema.
I add a few lines on top, because a tool that ranks but breaks is worse than no tool:
# my add-on Before you finish: run the tool yourself with 3 real inputs and fix anything that fails. Add a "How to use" section (3 steps) and 5 FAQs people actually search. Put the result ABOVE the fold on mobile. Make the page load under 2 seconds. The CTA appears right after the result: "[next step in my app]".
It has to actually work
Rob’s #1 rule. A broken tool gets a bounce and Google notices. Test it on your phone.
Result in seconds
No signup wall, no email gate before the result. Ask for the email after you helped.
One CTA, not five
The tool does step 1. The button says what your product does next.
No codebase? Fine.
Paste the same prompt into BuildCheap (buildcheap.app). It builds the tool page and gives you a live URL.
Ship it. Link it. Get it indexed.
Give it a home on your site
Make a /tools page that lists every free tool, and link it from your footer. Each tool links to 2–3 of the others. Google finds pages through links, so an orphan tool page never ranks.
Push it to Google
Add it to your sitemap, then Search Console → URL Inspection → Request indexing. Want it faster? The indexer trick in my LinkedIn-on-Google-in-41-minutes guide works for tool pages too.
Turn users into customers
Watch Search Console for 2 weeks. When a tool gets clicks, build the next one around the queries it shows up for. Track how many people click the CTA, not just visits.
- Tool works on 3 real inputs
- Works on a phone
- No signup before the result
- Keyword in title, H1, URL
- “How to use” + 5 FAQs
- JSON-LD schema added
- Linked from /tools + footer
- One CTA into the product
