How to Make a Website With AI
by Sanskar Tiwari · @sanskarr.tiwari
Go from one sentence to a live website — no code, no designer. I'll use BuildCheap, where you see the real dollar cost of every step before you run it. Here's the exact process (plus my copy-paste prompt).
The whole thing in one line: describe the site you want, let AI build it live, refine it in plain English, publish to a real URL. BuildCheap does all four — and unlike the credit-roulette tools, it shows you the exact cost of each step up front.
Want it as a PDF (and future guides)? Drop your email — I'll send it over. No spam.
The 6 steps
Write a brief, not a wish
Describe- Your first prompt is the biggest lever. Treat it like a brief you'd hand a freelancer.
- Say WHO it's for and the GOAL: "a one-page site for my photography studio to book shoots."
- List the SECTIONS (hero, gallery, services, pricing, contact) and the STYLE. Vague = generic.
Let it build live in a sandbox
Build- With BuildCheap you install nothing — describe the site in the browser, it generates the code and runs it live, no login to start.
- Let the first version build fully before you judge it — you'll refine next.
- Multi-model under the hood (Claude, GPT, Gemini, open models) — you're never locked in.
Preview in a real browser
Preview- Open the live page and actually use it on desktop and phone. Reading the code tells you nothing about how it feels.
- Click every button, scroll on a phone-width screen, and note what's off — that list becomes your next prompt.
Refine by talking to it
Tweak- "Make the hero bigger." "Change the accent to teal." "Add a 3-plan pricing section." Plain English, no CSS.
- One change at a time, then re-preview. Small steps beat one giant re-prompt.
Watch the cost, pick the model
Cost- This is BuildCheap's whole point: it shows the actual $ cost of each action BEFORE you run it. No credits, no guessing.
- Use a cheaper open model (DeepSeek, Qwen) for simple edits and watch the per-action cost drop.
- No surprise bill at month-end — you priced every step as you went.
Ship it and keep it yours
Ship- Publish to a live, shareable URL — now it's a real site, not a preview.
- Point your Instagram bio, ads, and reel replies at it the same day.
- It's your code and your content — grow it, don't get locked into a walled garden.
The copy-paste prompt
Swap in your business and paste it into BuildCheap (or Claude Code):
Build me a website for [BUSINESS], aimed at [AUDIENCE].
Pages/sections: hero with headline + subheadline + email signup,
a 3-item features row, an about block, a pricing/services section,
a contact form, and a footer.
Style: clean & modern, Outfit font, mobile-first, one accent colour.
Make it a real, deployable site I can publish to a live URL.You nailed it if…
- My brief named the audience, every page, and the style.
- I let the first version build fully before judging it.
- I previewed the live site on desktop AND phone.
- I refined it in plain English at least twice.
- The site has exactly ONE clear primary call to action.
- I checked the cost per action — no credits-roulette surprise.
- It's published to a live, shareable URL.
