Lesson 5.2 — The one-prompt dashboard

This is the deliverable clients screenshot and send to their boss. A dashboard, built from a messy export, in about fifteen minutes. Every dashboard that has ever impressed anyone has the same four blocks. Four big numbers across the top. One chart showing trend over time. One chart showing the breakdown. And a written summary underneath in plain language. The big numbers are just COUNTA, COUNTIF and AVERAGE on the columns you already built. Nothing clever. And you can have Sheet A I write the label under each one so the language stays consistent. And two minutes of formatting does more than an hour of work. Delete the gridlines, that single change does the most. Pick one accent colour and use it exactly three times. Bold the numbers, grey the labels. And leave white space around every block. That is the whole design system. Build it once and refresh it monthly. Fifteen to forty thousand a month. This is the retainer, and retainers are what turn freelancing into a business.…
