Lesson 2.1 — Everything starts in one box

Most tools make you decide what kind of thing you are importing before you start. Pick the P D F importer, pick the link importer. This one does not do that, and it is worth understanding why. This is the box. A topic goes in it. A link goes in it. A file gets attached to it. You do not choose a mode first, and that is deliberate, because the slowest part of making a deck is usually deciding how to start. It takes a topic or pasted text. It takes a P D F, a Word file, or an old PowerPoint you want rebuilt. It takes a web page, a YouTube link, and even audio and video files. We will do each of these properly, one at a time. And here is the reframe for this whole module. Most of the decks you need are not new work. The content already exists. It is sitting in a document, or a report, or a recorded call. It is just in the wrong format. That is a conversion problem, not a writing problem.…
